One of the most serene scenic locations near Cedar City, Utah is Navajo Lake, which is only a 45-minute drive up UT 14 from your lodging accommodations at the Abbey Inn. Known as the “Blue Mirror of Heaven” to local Indians, the natural lake sits at an approximate elevation of 9,100 feet. Lava beds, wildflower-filled meadows and fir, spruce and aspen forests surround the lake. At the lake, visitors can try their luck at landing a brook or rainbow trout, venture onto the lake in their own boat or a rental boat, available at the Navajo Lake Lodge, or hike nearby trails, including the Cascade Falls Trail. Another popular activity at the lake is mountain biking on the Navajo Lake Loop Trail, an 11.5-mile path that circumnavigates the lake.
