An anthropologic and geologic wonder stands only 20 miles north of your room at the Abbey Inn, your Cedar City, Utah lodging provider of choice. The Parowan Gap displays petroglyphs carved by several different ancient peoples. Though unsure exactly what the markings mean, anthropologists speculate they were part of some sort of religious activity or hunting ritual. The petroglyphs are not the Parowan Gap’s only distinct aspect. The gap itself is a wind gap, an unusual geologic formation created by an ancient river, which cut a notch 600 feet deep in the red sandstone.
