Abbey Inn rewards visitors with close proximity to one of southern Utah’s uncrowded scenic wonders
Among southern Utah lodging options, not many can match the luxurious suites the Abbey Inn of Cedar City offers. The hotel features honeymoon suites and even suites with an in-room spa. Some of our packages include stays in these suites, such as our Getaway Special, which also includes dinner at Rusty’s Ranch House and a basket of goodies, and our Utah Shakespearean Festival Package, offering tickets to the Tony-award winning theatrical event, which runs from June to October.
Lodging at the Abbey Inn of Cedar City will put you near a treasure trove of southern Utah history. Located north of downtown Cedar City, Iron Mission State Park chronicles the history of Iron County, Utah since 1850 through displays Paiute relics, pioneer artifacts, farm implements, and an impressive collection of horse-drawn wagons, including a hearse, mail carts and an overland stagecoach. The grounds are home to historic buildings such as a pioneer cabin, a former sheep shed and the Hunter House, one of the area’s first frame homes.
If you seek scenery on your trip to southern Utah, your lodging accommodations at the Abbey Inn are only a 20-minute drive from the least crowded tourist accessible area of Zion National Park – the Kolob Canyons section. Kolob Canyons’ five-mile scenic drive is a showcase of spectacular red rock monoliths and narrow canyons. For a scenic hike, follow the Taylor Creek Trail along a stream to a double arch alcove, an overhang featuring colorful streaks of mineral-laden water and hanging gardens. The LaVerkin Creek Trail, a 14-mile round trip hike, leads to Kolob Arch, one of the longest spanning natural arches on earth.
