 Brian
Head, Utah is located in Southwestern Utah just to the East of Cedar
City. It was called Monument Peak until 1890, the area was developed
for skiing in 1964 and incorporated in 1975. Brian Head is positioned
at 9,600 feet above sea level and is the base for one of Utah's great
family ski and snowboard resorts. It is the highest resort in the
state of Utah, with over 400 annual inches of famous Utah powder.
Brian Head Peak is 11,307 feet high while the
Giant Steps lift tops out at 10,920 feet. There are 50 different
trails to ski or snowboard
on. Brian Head Resort was the only ski/snowboard resort in the United
States to be honored as a "Top 10 Getaway for Family Travelers"
by the Family Travel Forum. The surrounding area is also excellent
for snowmobiling.
In
the Summer and Fall the surrounding mountains and forests offer
some of the finest mountain biking trails in America. Brian Head
offers many hotel and condo accommodations and is a great base for
exploration of the surrounding national parks and monuments. Cedar
Breaks national monument is just minutes away. Zion
National Park, Bryce National Park and
the new Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument
are each within 60 minutes of Brian Head, Utah. Surrounding communities
are Cedar City, St. George, Kanab
and Panguitch. Other area attractions on the mountain include, Navajo
Lake, Cascade Falls, Mammoth Caves, Duck Creek Village and Panguitch
Lake. The scenic highways that traverse Cedar Mountain are flanked
by Ponderosa Pines and open meadows with views in the distance of
many of the areas natural attractions.
